Born in Israel, Yael Segev has studied painting,
drawing, and sculpture since 1965 in the United
States, Canada, and Israel, under renowned teachers,
such as: Halavani, Drake, Hipps, Barattuci, Sawyer,
Heins, and Zandalowitch.Since 1978 her exhibitions
took place in the United States, Canada, and Israel -
in Dallas, Los-Angels, Claremont, Vancouver, New York,
Tel-Aviv, Jaffa, Hertzelia, Kibbutz Ga`ash,
Petah-Tikva, and Kfar-Tabor.Yael's basic approach
to sculpture is cubist, but the shapes and lines
embodied in the sculpture become soft and gentle,
completing the geometric construction and granting
it human dimension ("Thinker", "Triangle head").
Her style incorporates elements, both ealistic and
abstract, which reflect the intimate relationship
between the artist and her subjects: Soft, rounded,
naked woman ("Odalisque", "Sunflower Lady").
Her portrayals are diverse interpretation: alongside
sculpture of clean simplicity are works of intense
complexity.Yael's works in various materials.
She holds a unique view of the human body: the body
and the soul are entwined. The body is medium through
which the intricacies of the soul are revealed.
